The membership of the Society is open to any active farmers’ organization having strong membership of small, marginal and landless farmers, subject to the approval of the Governing Body of the Society as per the terms and conditions of the Society (framed by the Governing Body/General Body from time to time).

Note: If the Executive Committee of the Society does not approve the membership, the reason of refusal shall be communicated to the applicant concerned.

Types of Members: The Society shall have the following classes of members:

  1. General Member: General member shall be any FO who is interested in the objectives of the Society and applies for membership. The decision on membership would rest with the Executive Committee;
  2. Life Member: Any general member can become a life member on the recommendation of the Executive Committee;
  3. Founder Member: Members that mobilized and established Sara Bangla Krishak Society.

Sara Bangla Krishak Society Unit Office: Each member FO office at upazila or union level would be considered as a unit office of SBKS. If member FO numbers at any union or upazila is more than one, FOs would be federated at respective union or upazila level and their federated office would be considered as unit office of SBKS. This unit office will participate in/organize dialogue or any other events, with the prior consent from EC of SBKS.

Nomination of Representative: For any membership delineated above, each member FO shall nominate their representative FO leader(s) to join different meetings/events/activities of the society. This nomination should be in written form on letter head pad of the respective FO seconded by executive/general committee of the member FO of the society.

Cancellation of Membership

The Governing Body of the Society shall have the powers to expel/terminate a member from the membership of the Society on the following grounds:

  1. Resignation;
  2. Expiry of term, if any;
  3. Death;
  4. If adjudged by the court of law to be a criminal offender or of unsound mind;
  5. Acting against the interest of society;
  6. If the representative nominated by member FO is an acting as an active executive member of any political parties or any anti-Bangladesh movement or any extremist (religious) group at any level (ward, union, upazila, district, division, national level committees);
  7. If the representative nominated by member FO or any of its members are involved with any religious extremist group or the member FO receives funds from any religious extremist group and involved any activities against the state;
  8. By the resolution passed by 2/3 majority of executive committee, member of any category shall lose his/her activities;
  9. If the member fails to submit the annual membership fee (if any) within the months from the last date prescribed for the submission of fee;
  10. On any disciplinary ground;
  11. Member who absents in three consecutive meetings without prior written intimation.

 

Note: The decision of the Governing Body regarding the termination from the membership of the Society shall be communicated to the member concerned.

 

Reinstatement of Membership

The person whose membership is cancelled or suspended can apply to the President within 30 days and with the recommendation of any EC member stating the reasons in a plain paper. Membership can be reinstated if EC approves it.
